Environmental Statement

BonTon Handmade tile is environmentally conscious in all aspects of our tile making practices. From start to finish we strive to respect our natural environment and work hard to reduce, recycle and reuse.

- We use locally made clay that is 100% certified non-toxic

- Unused clay scraps and seconds are saved and recycled into future projects.

- Packaging materials are recycled. Including but not exclusive to; cardboard boxes, plastic bags, twist ties, styro peanuts, craft paper, styro-foam and cardboard

- We fire in modern fully automatic kilns that efficiently use electricity to produce our tile.

- BonTon seconds and defective tile are NOT thrown in the trash. Instead, we sell this excess at dramatically reduced prices to local mosaic artists and home improvement weekend warriors.

- All BonTon tiles are made in the USA creating domestic jobs and eliminating wasteful energy consumption associated with oversees shipping.

- BonTon design and manufacturing facilities are centrally located. The commute is measured in minutes and that saves on fuel consumption. In addition, company employees often ride their bikes to work.

- BonTon facilities have been furnished with re-claimed and second hand work spaces, shelving, desks, tables and chairs. Many of these items were headed to landfills before we found them.

BonTon Design LLC actively supports and fosters environmental sustainability, practices and awareness. Going forward we will actively seek new and creative ways to make all our resources go further.
